SWITZERLAND & DEFENSE ATTORNEYS FOR ABUSED ANIMALS

Posted by craftyveggie in Untagged

craftyveggie

This week something took place in the country of Switzerland that has changed the conversation on animal rights forever.  In a nutshell hat country put to the vote, whether or not Defense Attorneys should be appointed to all abused animals.   Apparently, there is currently one defense attorney handling abused animals.   We can just imagine the conversation amongst fisherman and hunters.  According to a NPR story, a fisherman was recently charged with abuse by leaving a Pike dangling far too long on the hook.

The battle for animals rights has been over 2,000 years and our vegan voices are being raised in a chorus so loud, the din is now reaching deep into the legal and justice systems.    That the Swiss voters unanimously voted against this doesn't mean it won't happen in time to come.   The fact that it appeard on a national ballot is the first step to ultimate victory for the animals.

Only WE can continue to chip away as vigorously as we have been doing, to liberate the animals and stop the torture pain and abuse that is each second of each day  being exacted upon them.    The thought that as I type this, billions of animals are being skinned alive, electrocuted and murdered in slaughterhouses and farms is sickening.    We must live daily for them the same way our recent ancesters  did to end human slavery and apartheid.   We have voices, the animals don't.

TILLY UPDATE - FREE TILLY & NECN

Posted by craftyveggie in Untagged

Today at approx. 1 p.m. New England Cable News aired a press conference by SeaWorld on the death of Dawn the Whale trainer.   Notable were the words used by the spokesperson.  "Product"  "training"  "entertainment"  etc.   People say they love animals.  They really don't.  Because if they did, there would be a nationwide boycott of any and all aquariums who "keep" dolphins and "train" them for entertainment purposes.

Also noticeable in this interview was that NO questions asked could be heard by the viewer.  Isn't that interesting and plain suspicious?  We don't know what this spokesperson was asked or by whom.

Please spread the word.  FREE TILLY.  FREE ALL CAPTIVE DOLPHINS who just want what we do - to be free.  Isn't it a small thing to ask?

FREE TILLY

Posted by craftyveggie in Untagged

The news that a trainer at Seaworld in Florida was drowned and killed by Tilly the killer whale is making headline news.  That Tilly and many other killer whales in captivity have drowned aquarium staff doesn't appear to switch on the smart chip in peoples brains.

Animals were NEVER meant to be enslaved, whether human animal or non-human animal.    I have little if any sympathy for "trainers" who are drowned by those they are attempting to "train" for the corporate world to grow rich off of.   Some things in life are common sense.  It isn't common sense to get into an environment completely foreign to the human animal and expect good results.

Seaworld is a cruel place for dolphins of all species as are all aquariums who seek to profit off the demise of fast disappearing sea life.  It's a travesty and I hope this accident brings to the fore the fact that we need to halt absolutely all enslavement of other species.    Shut down the entertainment aquariums and FREE TILLY!!

turkey, pea-hen and cattle update

turkey update.  claude and gina had a very nice visit with the vet in january. claude is ten pounds overweight.  poor guy is now on chicken food.  gina is overweight as well, however she does not have the apparent severity of arthritis claude does.  they are getting along better with the pea-hens since everyone now has their own home.  i think all in all the birds have enjoyed the results of the recent rains we have had, no one likes the wind.  they do like a gentle mist....

the big guys are doing great.  bruno, leigh vie and bertie are happy with the fresh grass since the rain, they too don't like the wind.  even california has spring, it is just more subtle, but the pets sure notice.  we all are truly enjoying the lengthening of the days.  the creek has been running off and on, i know the bobcat likes that!

George Orwell 1984 Bush and Obama

Posted by craftyveggie in Untagged

I feel as though I am living in the above author's book.  We are being fed screaming and hysterical warmongering information constantly and without any reprieve.  A handsome young man attempted to board a 'plane on Xmas day to blow it up is being yelled at me on NPR and every online news paper and TV news channel every second of every day.  This therefore, is fueling my belief that the govt. is searching for a diversion?  Has it been doing this for ever or just for the past 9 years??  Obama has now pushed Bush policies to a whole new disgusting level.   We wouldn't be experiencing any kind of terrorism if we weren't the warmongering nation we are.  People hate us because they're afraid we will invade them next.  Just can't keep our skicky little hands to ourselves can we?

I'm witnessing the Broederbonder movement here which is exactly the same as I witnessed in apartheid south africa under the white governing regime.  I'm white, and feel I can therefore recognize white policies quite easily.   The GOP continues its brave attempt at "pro-life" by protesting the killing of unborn innocents.  But they cannot disguise their hypocrisy  double standards and foothold on power.  Don't they know yet?  Pro-life means ALL life, not just unborn white babies.

The spread of the vegan "gospel" will only help bring about peace.   But for now, it's 1984 Orwell style.

Taxonomic Classifications

Posted by Chenli in Untagged

Chenli
Two minuscule rants this time.

Firstly, this relates to the inane ability of humans to class wild animals by the wrong taxonomic diet. First and foremost, wild animals are NOT vegetarians. Never have been, never will be. The word "Vegetarian" is a definition prescribed to the class of human whom abstains from meat; the flesh of an animal. This includes chicken and fish for all you pseudo vegetarians out there.

Even the highly acclaimed Sir David Attenborough, a renowned wildlife documentary narrator has fallen into this sordid trap of attributing human classifications to animals. The said animal he mistakenly claimed to be "vegetarian" was herbivorous; a REAL classification for animal eating habits within the wild that include plant life in the diet and plant life only. Hell, he could've taken it a step further and gone for a specific classification for this particular animal; a frugivore, as it lived on the nuts (yes, nuts are a fruit) of some sort of plant.

As it stands, the following classifications are welcomed: Frugivore, Herbivore, Carnivore, Omnivore, Piscivore, Insectivore, and so on. Vegetarian is NOT welcomed.

It's like the world just forgot basic science lessons from their younger years. Seriously...being learned is not a bad thing!

---

Onto my next rant...

Omnivores, you are not carnivores, so stop claiming you are! The human body is, for the most part, incapable of surviving on a carnivorous diet alone. So stop talking nonsense and admit to your true eating habits !

Converting people to veganism. Don't be ashamed. Be proud.

Posted by Chenli in Untagged

Chenli
This is in lue of being told (by people on VFF) that one should not be proud or claim credit for someone going vegan even if it's obvious they wouldn't of gone vegan without your information sharing and encouragement. They also claimed this because apparently going vegan is the 'choice' of the person alone. If that were so, we can discredit the suffragette movement because it's clear, by the logic presented by these VFF vegans, that the suffragette movement made no difference in changing people's views of women's rights. The same can be applied to any movement which hopes to change the minds of the masses for better. But of course, that is poppycock, because without the suffragettes and other such controversially acclaimed movements of their time, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this (I'm female), nor would some of the slave trade be abolished, and so on and so forth.

Contrary to the belief of some vegans, it is highly unlikely that there are many current vegans who have gone vegan purely through their own thought processes alone. I, for one, would've probably never gone vegan had it not been for the information within the videos on PETA opening my naive vegetarian eyes to the hypocritical life I was leading as a vegetarian. My fiance, whom went vegan before we started courting, would probably have never even considered vegetarianism, let alone veganism, had I not challenged his 'I'm an animal lover' statement...over the PS3 voice comm no less. From the discussion that ensued, I encouraged him to watch earthlings and to prove he was a real animal lover; give up meat, dairy, etc. He also received a copy of my Veganism Intro Guide via good old internet messenger service. Within about a week, he went vegan.

Now, it is obvious that due to me and my never ending hate for the 'I'm an animal lover' statement by omnivores (thus giving me credence to speak up), his lifestyle change occurred. Am I going to take credit for it? Yes I am. Just as I expect anyone who opens the eyes of others to take credit for conversion of a less animal friendly lifestyle to a more animal friendly lifestyle in another. Do I expect a myriad of applause for said conversion? No. But I'm not going to kid myself that my educating others has changed nobody's mind, and that my educating others has been meaningless and insignificant.

So, to all those who have shown others the path of true caring, I applaud you, and I purport you stand up, give yourself a well deserved pat on the back for coming through victorious - even with one person changed - when the mindsets of so many we have educated remains stubborn and unperturbed thus adding to our never ending frustrations as true animal lovers in a non animal friendly world.
